| It's that time of year again, a new calendar year, broken resolutions piling up like Twinkie wrappers at Rosie O' Donnell's place and of course, the annual CES show in Las Vegas, Nevada. In my never ending pursuit to bring you the latest and greatest, I suffered through all four days of too short skirts, barely decent tops and gratuitous flesh. Oh, how I suffer for you.
Right off, huge props go out to Rob Black, Stephanie Swift and Johnni Black for their Best Director, Performer of the Year and Best New Starlet awards at the big AVN show. Guess some of us reviewers have been a bit too hard on Rob. Then again, we have been quite nice to Steph and Johnni.
I must apologize to you all for an erroneous report I made last month. Contrary to what I reported, Kobi Tai and Mark Davis are not divorced, but are going strong. My humblest apologies.
Another rumor about Kobi and fellow Vivid girl Janine that I did not pass on is being flatly denied on all fronts. Internet sources have been floating the idea that Kobi, Janine and Jill Kelly work for a New York escort service and are available for eight bills a night. "It's total BS." Said Janine. "Find whoever said that and squash them." Guess somebody was just wishful thinking.
Speaking of Janine, and aren't we always, the blonde superstar says that her boy/girl layout in Penthouse was shot long before she met current boyfriend, Rikki Rachtman and that she has no plans to work with men on film in the future. I guess that means more frustration for all those waiting to see porn's top face filled with dick.
Someone who has fucked plenty of guys on film and plans to do even more is Jasmine St Claire. She and director John T. Bone have split from Metro to form Cream Productions. "Metro wasn't properly promoting my films." Said Jasmine. "This will be much better for us." We'll just have to wait and see about that.
Another distribution move has Brittany O'Connell hooking up with Xplor Media. The move should help get her new all girl, all anal series, Anal Kittens on a lot of store shelves. The name recognition Brittany brings can't hurt Xplor either.
A recent story in AVN about Alicia Rio has fueled speculation as to just where the adult film star may be. People have told me so many different things, I don't know what to believe. One possible answer that keeps popping up has Alicia in jail, but at this time no one can confirm nor deny that story.
The team of Vivid girls now numbers ten. In addition to the usual suspects, Raquel Darian, Janine, Heather Hunter, Kobi Tai, Locklear, Jen Teal, Dyanna Lauren and Chasey Lain, Vivid has added Tia Bella and Taylor Hayes. Anyone else remember when the five or six Vivid girls were the cream of the crop? Did someone say overkill?
One of the veteran Vivid girls is taking off in a new direction. Chasey Lain is said to be starring in her own line of all girl tapes for Vivid Raw. According to a spokesman, it will be "Chasey like you've never seen her. Very nasty." Sounds like a good way to cover up the fact that she has gone Janine on us since her recent marriage.
Nico Treasures is back after nearly a year off. She was dancing for much of 97, then took time off to spend with her son. Her proposed deep throat challenge video has been scrapped, but Nico has plans to do some videos with a select group of lucky fans. She was also quite candid about the breakdown of her one time friendship with Jasmine St Clair. What was that Nico? Jasmine should 'punt'? I didn't even know it was fourth down.
Last month, I reported that Sunset Thomas had signed an exclusive contract with Zane. The first of four features from the blonde beauty, "Sexual Species" will hit the shelves any day. The big budget picture is quite a change for Zane. My question is who will get the mandatory double anal fisting?
On a Valentine note, Alyssa Love, clear of Jay Ashley, has been linked romantically with Jef Hickey, now doing PR work for Zane. First Tyffany Million, now Alyssa. Hey Hickey, fuck you, ya lucky bastard.

Clearly the biggest hype at the show surrounded Wicked girl Jenna Jameson. The world's greatest testament to good PR drew huge crowds of adoring fans, once again proving she is the biggest star in the biz. Of course, it wasn't enough to land her Performer of the Year, as once again the odds on favorite was aced out. Better luck next year Jenna.
I have found a new starlet to look out for. Dick Nasty was parading around a new girl at the show and in clubs around Vegas. Laura, a twenty year old blonde Brit, caused quite a stir. This naturally busty beauty was ready to go and scheduled her first scene with Vince Voyeur. Welcome to the biz Laura, I'm sure we will be seeing plenty of you in the not so distant future.
Taylor Wayne is back, with a new spelling to her last name (It's now Wane), even bigger tits and a few choice words about her old pal Trinity Loren. "I heard she lives in Venice". The pint sized British blonde said. "She chopped her hair all off, got really, REALLY fat and just sits on her ass all day." Come on hon, how do you really feel?
Tabitha Stevens seems fully recovered from her recent car accident. She was at the show, gracious as ever and looking simply fantastic. Nice to see you doing so well.
Dave Cummings has taken his Sugardaddy series to the Fallen Angel label and it looks like a perfect fit.
Expect new tapes, complete with some scenes Dave shot with Candy Apples, which he assured me were some of his best work, to hit the shelves later this month.
Can someone tell me when FOXE lost it's clout?
With the exception of a brief appearance by Nina Hartley, no one of consequence showed up at the booth. A sad statement of FOXE's inability to pull in big talent? More likely, a sad tribute to the greed of starlets who wouldn't be caught dead in a booth that wasn't paying them big bank.
Sid Deuce, who regularly slams Jay Ashley in her column, would have been more than happy to do so in mine as well. She still has not let up on Jay for his early scene in a bi video. She also had a few choice words for Jay's ex, and Rog's fave star, Kaitlyn Ashley. "I haven't spoken to Kaitlyn since she lost her mind." Says Deuce. "I hope getting away from Jay will help her. She needed to get out of the business." Some of us don't agree with you there.
Asia Carrera was a bit kinder to her detractors than one might expect. Responding to an ad in AVN by the PARC that basically called her a racist, Asia brushed it off gracefully with "Whatever." Whatever indeed. We all have better things to do than respond to crackpots.
Some one tell me what sort of magic Nina Hartley has found. While she still looks great head to toe, Nina has found a way to completely halt the aging process from the waist down. The finest ass and legs in porn history looks as perfect as it did a decade ago. Bottle it Nina, you'll make a bloody fortune.
The Elegant Angle booth was a buzz of activity this year. Patrick Collins had the whole family there. Directors Tom Byron, Van Damage, Rob Black and Mike South were joined by Tiffany Mynx, Coral Sands, Stephanie Swift and a handful of others. Also on hand was new head of PR Mark Kulkis. Once of AVN fame, Mark is a hell of a guy.
In addition to giving me a shot at print writing for that mag, he is the same guy who booted me a month later. Besides, if it weren't for Mark, I'd still be Roger P Tipe. The Tipe-line? I think not.
