| "Girls and Geeks: IA 2000 Adult Internet Show in New Orleans"
IA 2000 was held New Orleans at the Convention Center September 22-24, 2000.
IA 2000 brings together the players in the
adult internet industry. From webmasters to adult actresses, throw in
content suppliers, and large websites themselves, you have IA 2000. Having
attended the show for three years, previously in Las Vegas and Miami, this
was by far the largest hall and the most exhibitors I had witnessed for an IA
2000 show.
IA 2000 is a combination of parties, seminars, and a tradeshow that provide a
meeting of the minds and networking opportunities for those serious about
keeping this cutting edge industry moving forward.Skipping the seminars, lets look at the parties and tradeshow.
The opening of IA 2000 is traditionally marked by The Player's Ball. A wild and loud
event that requires attendees to show up dressed in Pimp n' Ho style attire.
Ice-T emceed again this year and was well attended. Every night seemed to
bring on a new "big bash". Show attendees had the choice of anything from
cocktail parties at local hotels to a dinner riverboat cruise to private
parties held at secret locations around the French Quarter.
The highlight of the convention is always the tradeshow. Over 100 exhibitors showcasing their wares, with booths of various sizes and shapes. Big players such as Cybererotica and their dance stage and wrestling ring set up to feature a new wrestling site with the Beautiful Ladies of Wrestling (BLOW). Adult Check with their cash grab in a glass booth held twice a day.
Wicked Pictures bringing in a Hummer vehicle to promote Rodman TV, Dennis Rodman's new project. And of course bringing in the man himself, Dennis Rodman to do what he does best, play to the crowd and stir up a frenzy, which he did on Saturday afternoon. IA 2000 also gives smaller companies and entrepreneurs new to the industry like Black Dog, a small organization out of Toronto providing streaming video to various sites.
Now, onto who was there. As I mentioned before, you couldn't miss Rodman. Serenity was nice as could be at the Wicked booth. Dee was a delight, Ginger Lynn always had a nice line waiting for an autograph or picture. Syndee Steele was working hard, and Christy Canyon and Victoria Paris looked like they were having a good time as well at the Vivid VIP booth.
Many others were there, too many to mention but it is a great environment to see your favorite stars at. Not crowded like a CES, where you might have to wait 45 minutes for a picture with Serenity, here you just walk up to her sitting behind the desk and say hi.
IA 2000 is a must attend event for those in the internet industry. There are some tire kickers, but the badge fee of $125 keeps the gawkers away and gives the serious attendees a chance to get contacts made and an opportunity to make lasting acquaintances. The Winter IA 2000 in Las Vegas is changing names to Internext and will be held at the Sands Expo in conjunction with CES. See you there.
